the ut2007 textures are lower res compared with gow... and the game does not look as good (fewer polys as well)
-perhaps ut2007 just doesn't have that cliffyb touch like ut2004 did eh?
that the rsx can access the system ram... although i haven't heard that it can go the other way (system cpu accessing gpu ram like the 360 can) but the 360 has much more bandwidth between the gpu and cpu and thus the unified ram in the 360 is just like having 512 on both... however, the rsx has reduced bandwidth and even though it can read and write on the system ram it cannot do so as quickly as the 360 thus limiting how much a developer can actually utilize the ram.
LAME don't post outdated information...
what needs to be seen is how much they added to this trailer... as in, will this graphical fidelity translate into in-game... i hope it does...
This is the first time i've seen footage of the engine outside of internet sources... running at 720p on my samsung lcd and it looks outstanding.. if the game does look like that sony will have trouble arguing that their system is significantly better graphically (i would say they are on par with each other, with neither system really b...
sorry, in-game engine---see my post below
"This is the commercial that was played last week at X'06 Canada. It was created entirely with the in-game engine"- Major nelsom
i'm not sure what he means by "in-game engine" but it certainly sounds like it was taken from the gameplay engine... when something is just inengine it means its spiffed up (like halo 2 cutscenes) but i think that this is actually in-game... but like i said, we'll know soon enough ;-)
according to major nelson and other sources it is ingame... which is just so hard to believe... but i've got my copy pre-ordered and so i'll know in 13 days (nov 8th at EB games yo!)
This game is so much better than i could have imagined anything you see on the internet does not even do this game justice until you see it on an hdtv running at 720p... took long enough to get this on marketplace, but just like the game, its worth the wait!!!
i could see microsoft talking with IBM about using cell in the NEXT xbox... y'know, once all the kinks and manufacturing issues are worked out. As to bladestar, i don't think that microsoft should make their own hardware... I like them as a software company because then they can only be a horizontal monopoly... would really suck if they got vertical acquisition of the market (would they be called microhard?)
it is a little odd... i was actually just expecting the top 10 xbox 360 requests...
hehe
i know its also on there... but still
why is this being posted again?
those are firmware updates (i have nothing against that cause i don't have to do anything... just be plug into the internet, done!), not hardware updates... i meant i don't need to buy a new graphics card every year... or replace my processor/motherboard... or buy more ram... a startup disk is a lil stupid.. but that wouldn't make me not get a wii, the lack of titles i personally (not saying that the games are bad) want to play is keeping me away.
ummm... are webpages going to be intelligible at 480p?? I've hooked my computer up to a SDTV via s-video before and anything less than 24 font wasn't readable. And how do you enter urls?? do they use a "pictochat" style keyboard?
anyhow, i'll get a wii.. but i'll do my webbrowsing on the pc.
i did read this... when it was posted earlier... (yes it is a repost) And I would hardly say that 1 out of 23 things being only moderately negative counts as a con. A true pros vs cons list works by making first a list of pros and then a list of cons... not just one list of pros with an "excused" unintuitive design.
an example:

how is this pros and cons... looks like just pros
this makes the 20 gb ps3 seem a lot crappier... 4 gb per game? damn, that will eat up space quick... the three main reasons i buy consoles is: 1) no need to update my hardware 2) big screen tvs :-) and 3) no installation, just pop in and go...
right now it is optional.. but if the games get larger then it might become required and that would eat up that disk space big time.

the official ps3 specs sheet says hdmi cable not included...
banished or vanished?? very different meanings ;-)
texture resolution is different than screen resolution. By decreasing the demands of rendering more pixels on the screen they should be able to increase texture resolution... to test this for yourself:
boot up your pc, run any game, turn texture resolution down and run at high screen resolution... then turn up the texture resolution to the max... notice a frame rate change? Now drop the screen resolution down but leave the texture resolution at max, your frame rate should improve no...
why are the ps3 commercials so scary... they are the polar opposite of the 360's jump in commercials...
